Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 garlic clove (minced)
- ½ cup peas or green beans
- ½ diced onion
- ¾ cup pasta shells or elbow macaroni
- ½ cup almond milk or regular milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tsp coconut sugar (brown sugar works too)
- 1 tsp hot sauce
- ½ cup diced tomatoes
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- ½ tsp cumin
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp thyme
- ¼ tsp turmeric
Instructions
- Add 6 cups of water in a large pot on the stove and turn on high heat with a pinch of salt
- When water is boiling, add pasta shells and cook for 8 minutes until tender
- Meanwhile, heat a cast iron skillet on another burner and add 1 tbsp olive oil
- Add the diced onion to the pan and brown for 10 minutes
- When the noodles finish cooking, drain the pasta and rinse with cold water and set aside
- Now add the ground turkey and minced garlic to the cast iron skillet and cook for 10 more minutes
- Once the turkey is almost all the way brown, add the peas, hot sauce, coconut sugar, diced tomatoes, and spices and simmer for 10 minutes
- Return your pasta back to the large pot (burner off) and add the cheese and almond milk and heat on low until the cheese is melted and forms a thick sauce. Add the turkey to the macaroni and mix well
- Ready to serve!
